Parents like this are a cancer on any football team.

The team reads this board and now they think one of their teammates is spreading discord.

Seems VMI looked bigger and faster than years past.Do not understand how we lose recruiting battles with them considering their location.

“I don’t know what happened. I don’t know exactly what happened today, but I know we didn’t come out hungry, and that’s my fault. We didn’t come out ready to go, and that’s my fault.” Coach Brent Thompson

How many times in the past 3 years have we heard BT say the same thing, or something similar?  It's getting old, and I'm tired of hearing this excuse every time we lose.

Figure out the damn problem, and FIX IT!!!!  That's what you get paid for!!

We rarely see VMI on the recruiting trail. 2 different styles of offense and state supported schools so there are just so many out of state kids you can go after and Virginia is pretty saturated with other conferences. Better bang for your buck going into Atlanta, Houston and metro Florida areas.

Need to get them in front of section E then. The recruits and redshirts stand in front of the players parents and girlfriends and not the Hard Corp fans. But then the cheerleaders would have to move though. Anyway Section E has single handedly won games in the General.

In any given year between 65% and 75% of VMI's players are from Virginia. It has the least geographically diverse roster in the conference, and my understanding is that is something preferred (if not demanded) by its leadership.

We do cast a wider net than them in general and in most years it shows.

24 hour rule, so yes, now we can move on.  We're allowed to bitch, moan, complain, whine, etc after a loss, as well as gloat, rave, compliment, etc after a win for 24 hours after the event ends.  Then, it's on to the next game.

I agree, time to focus on Western.

Anyone think the game we had with Sammie affected Samford in their game against Furman? Furman is good but I don't think we they are that much better than Samford.

Was at the game, and too glum to jump in after leaving and over the weekend.
First point - congrats to VMI.  Those boys beat us up and down the field, and they WANTED it.  I'm sure they felt like us when we hadn't beaten Wofford for a dozen years.  I know always losing ifs hard, and feel glad for them that they got 2 wins in conference (but not that one was over us).  They deserved that win, and I believe it will hep our conference if they can become competitive again.
2nd point (IMHO) - we lost our identify.  We are a TO team and have pounded people with it. 78 yards rushing? Believe we became enamored with this marvelous passing game we discovered, and when we missed the pass it threw us out of our stride and we couldn't convert.  I have to go back and look but believe our last couple of games against VMI we were around 400 yards rushing.  Their coach said it in his interview - he was going to be darned if we beat them on FB dives and QB keepers; he said if our guys beat them on the edge and passing more power to them. And we fell for it.

Said my piece, am still smarting, but looking forward.  8-4 season ain't bad . . . ..

My opinion... last two games we’ve seen more passing than what “we’re used to” because the running hasn’t been effective. Large part of that is Rainey’s injury. He’s knows the playbook better than the other options (I’m assuming) and can make the reads, but if the read is to keep he can’t do what he’s normally been able to do in the past. No doubt that is having an effect on some of his decision making -also. Defenses are taking away the dive and loading up the box. The passes are an attempt to mitigate that; it has worked to some extent. But teams are probably willing to let us try to beat them passing.

And when we go down my 17 in second half; yes the dive will be there for 3,4 and 5 yards. Until we get inside the red zone anyway. But that doesn’t mean it’s working.

It doesn’t look all that good right now, but we’ve been in every game at the end of it. That’s 1000% better than how we ended the ‘17 season.

Injuries hurting right now. And lack of takeaways and inconsistent tacking hurting on defense.

We get S. T. Faulkner back this week; I think that will be a boost to the defense.

I checked - 335 rush yards against VMI last year, and 405 in 2017

I know 16 claims he is 100 percent, but it is obvious he has some leg issues that slow him down.
