Nice try, Outsider Troll. "That was my first post, but I've been reading for a while". Looks like you registered this username about 5 hours ago. Lying must be in your DNA. But our players deserve better, right?

I did some digging...

"Defensive woes. Cannot deny it. But riddle me this. When was the last time we had freshman starting in our middle infield? My bet, and I could be wrong, is that these two will be different players two years from now. You don't improve sitting the bench. You have to get out there and get your uniform dirty."

I didn't look up all of the seasons, just the ones that I remeber back during my playing years, but back in 1993 a freshman started at second base.  That team had 32 wins.

Citadel4Lyfe, on that comment "GFY!"...  I have tremendous respect for many Citadel folks that I have dealings with.  Most all of the ones that I know are great people.  I would like you to take a moment to refer to this page so that I may share that opinion about you: http://www.citadel.edu/root/core-values

Please pay special attention to first and last value.

No more trolling from me!

Good grief, someone else please explain to Citadel4Lyfe that you don't need to register to read the posts here.  (I ask that because he thinks lying is in my DNA.)

I guess I did lie about trolling again...[wink]

I have not seen the baseball team play. It is a 600 mile trip. I do, however, read about them. I did send my grandson to Jordan’s baseball camp 10 years ago. Disaster and I could not even get him to visit this his senior year. Our baseball program has been in the dump for around 8 or 9 years.
As I look at the box scores, I see errors and walks in massive numbers. Some of that is panic or choke. Has to be a way to improve getting the ball over the plate and catching a ball. If this is more of the same next year, we have a problem. Getting beat is one thing. Playing uncompetitive defensive baseball is unacceptable at best, embarrisibg ot worst.

Coach Skole is our coach. He is in year two. I support him 100%. Give him a chance to build his program. We are closer to success than we think. Lots of young players getting experience.

If we are not in the top 4 then I really don't care where we finish as you head into the baseball tourney. If I am Skole I do two things: (1) Play freshman and sophomores and look towards next season. Pitch young arms so they get the real game time experience. (2) I gently nudge out some horrible performing juniors and seniors who have given up on this team. That frees up salary cap money for more freshman. If the juniors and seniors are busting their tail and showing leadership then it would be a little harder. If they are walking around with a "me first" attitude then I slide them into the Corps.

Skole can't do the 2nd one because it is bad publicity and he doesn't need that used against him when he recruits. Remember it is a players world right now with the transfers, moving around, and heading to a JUCO at the drop of the hat.

I was never a fan of Coach Jordan and I thought he basically quit a few years ago. I also did not care for the attitudes among several players towards the “system” itself and I felt that was a culture that Jordan cultivated. Regardless, Tony was left with very little to work with. Past experiences aside, I’m willing to give him a mulligan or two. We are all spoiled on good baseball and the fact that no matter how bad basketball and football were we could always look forward to the spring to cleanse the palate and pull for a winner. I am nowhere near thinking Tony isn’t the guy to get us back there. He was recruited by and played for Chal Port. He knows what he has to do to field a winner at The Citadel (which is different from ETSU). We need to be behind the guy right now. Let him get his own kids in there and then let’s see what happens.
