The Citadel golf coach Lori Bonacci announced the addition of a pair of future cadet-athletes during the early signing period. Rachel Belanger and Audrey Dougherty inked National Letters of Intent to compete for the Bulldogs beginning in 2016-17. "Audrey and Rachel are part of the strongest recruiting class we have ever brought in," Bonacci said. "They are the definition of a student athlete by the way they have excelled both in the classroom and on the golf course. I expect them both to do very well academically and in the Southern Conference." Belanger is a multi-sport athlete from Atlanta, Georgia, where she plays softball, basketball and golf at Chattahoochee High School. Belanger has excelled on and off the course at Chattahoochee, earning MVP honors for her golf team twice while receiving the squad's Coach's Award as a freshman. She carded a 68 (4-under-par) at a tournament last season, which is her personal best. In the classroom, Belanger boasts a 3.8 cumulative GPA and has secured honor roll recognition each year during her high school career. She plans on pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at The Citadel next fall. Belanger is also currently working hard on a service project that will allow her to sponsor a child in need in Nicaragua.
