The Citadel’s mascot uniform is worn out and we need to act quickly to replace it.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 by December 31, 2019.
The total fundraising goal is $30,000, (Class of 1983 is attempting to cover the other $15,000).
This $30,000 covers the cost of two mascot uniform’s (our current uniform is over 10 years old). This cost also includes formal training for mascots, sending them to competitions, and establishing athletic scholarships for Spike (up to two cadets).
Many alumni do not realize that there is a significant time commitment for the cadet-athletes who are in the uniform. Some examples include portraying the mascot at athletic events, campus events, community events, and even private events such as weddings and birthday parties.
To date, our cadet-athlete in suit does not receive any form of support in exchange for his/her time and we are looking to change that in the future.
Any funds that are raised for immediate use that are deemed beyond what is necessary will be used to begin an endowment that will support the longevity and stability of the program along with support for our other athletic programs.
