I understand that he was not a very good student or cadet.  Very good basketball player but not outstanding in the area's that count if you want to be a Citadel graduate.  Hope he is a great success in his future endeavors.

Good for Duggar. Thanks for holding our athletes to a higher standard. He did the right thing despite what it could mean to his career. Impressive.

Sometimes things just don't work out or the individual is just not a good fit for The Citadel.  Sounds like it was agreed to mutually between Parks & Baucom, but there could more that we don't know about.

It really hurts a program like The Citadel that is trying build a competitive team when the best player departs.  Look at all of the other players that Baucom, Chucky D & Conroy brought in that left, for what ever reason, before graduating.

Did any of them make a splash after leaving The Citadel?  Some were decent players, but at low level D-1 or lower schools.  Basically, they were never to be heard from again.

Good luck to Preston in his future endeavors.  Next man up!

Yes, there was one under Conroy that did well after he left The Citadel. I forget his name, but was a maniacal rebounder.

On the roster page on citadelsports.com, there are 12 players listed, but 14 in the picture.  I know that Parks is in the picture, but has been removed from the roster, but who is #24 in the picture??????  Tyler Burgess????  He has not played this year, & is also not listed on the roster.  Did he also leave school?

John Brown was the one dismissed from School and went to play at Liberty where he continued to do good work.

Harrison DuPont left and bounced around from Juco to non-accredited garbage schools.
Moncrief Michael left and was never heard from again.
Warren McClendon was never heard from again, Ga State AAA player of the year.
The kid that left and went to Indiana State did well.
The list is long and talented but none of them went to the NBA.

I think this team is better suited to handle a hit like that than earlier teams. Simmons and Brown will have to pick up the slack. They were both scorers in high school so they can produce. Plus if you are poison in the locker room how good are you to the team? When they say poison in the locker room it reminds me of the Western Carolina incident a couple of years ago where a baller punched another baller and sent him to the hospital and no action was taken by the coaches.

If you are interested in basketball recommend that you watch the Gray Line.  Excellent interview with coach, gives very insightful thoughts on Parks and discusses all the players in detail.

Not even the most high profile player to leave; Rodney McKeever the SoCon POY in '76 got booted on an HV. Lots of kids both athletes and non discover the Cid isn't for them or run afoul of the rules; just seems that too many basketball recruits fall by the wayside after a year or two

Rodney left because of an HV, that is different than quitting the team after 6 games in your second year to me.  I doubt that Rodney got the HV on purpose.  In the Gray Line program the coach seemed to indicate that Parks had a real problem with sharing the ball and making the open pass.  Do others that have watched the program agree?

Not sure, but I believe he is still in school, just concentrating on that and not playing basketball this year.
