Dawgs lose by 20, 83-63. Stunk it up in the 1st half getting down by 18 at halftime, 40-22. Played well in the 2nd half, and even got within 12, 72-60 with 4:40 left. Typical game under BAUCOM: dig ourselves a big hole, fight to come back, then run out of gas and lose by double digits. If Dawgs would have played the whole game like the 2nd half, we win.

NC STATE will be top half of ACC,
Entertaining second half.
Good effort.
Maybe we surprise a few in the Socon.
Maybe 12-13 wins this year.

Listened to the 2nd half on the radio. The commentators were very complementary of the Dogs, especially Harris and Rice. At one point they said Fitzgibbons was the fastest player on the court.

I watched and was really just pained by 3s that weren't dropping in that first half. I really don't blame that on Baucom. The guys were just clunking for awhile. If not, this game would have been much closer. The second half was pretty good IMHO, and they had a chance to get to a single digit lead by State. 4-5 of those they missed in the first half would have made a big difference. We played UGA well, stayed in it with ETSU, and played reasonably well agaisnt an ACC BB team. I think we win a few SOCON games this year.

Baucom needs to win more than "a few SOCON games this year" to keep his job.  He must finish at least .500 in SOCON play to have any shot of getting another year added to his contract or else we have a new coach for 2020-21 season.

From what I've seen so far this year:

I just don't see this team beating ETSU, UNCG, Woffy, Chatty, or Vermin. Might win 2 or 3 against those teams.

Will probably win some against Mercer, Sammy, VeeMee, & WCU. Will probably go 4-4 or 5-3 against these teams.

Overall, will probably go about 8-10 in SOCON play.

I agree with 81; with the tournament its a 30 game season and even if we break even at 15-15 its only a slight improvement over last year and previous seasons so I don't think its enough to justify keeping him.  Given our very young team I could see him getting a 1 year extension to give him another chance to prove himself but with his track record it doesn't look too promising.

Have a 6'9" commit coming next year from Ohio and 6'2" Point Guard from Florida. Both 6"9 Spence and 6'8" Clark have good upsides once put some weight on. Have played most of the year without best player, Brown and 6th man Gammons. State beat Wisconsin at home by 15 or 16. Take away the late three pointer by State walk on and our game was a 17 point deficit.

Maybe it takes our guys the first half to get use to playing in front of announced attendance of 15,501 instead of our home crowd of 501!!

A number of us that actually attend the home basketball games do not share 81s opinion of Coach Baucom.  I clearly get the fact, from previous posts,  that 81 wanted Novak after Conroy left for Tulane, clearly get that.  Novak did not get the job but probably should have in 2010 or so after Conroy departed for Tulane.

I've been around Cid basketball since the early 70's when Ben Ledbetter was a point guard. Being a Greenville native, I watched the Dawgs play the Furman teams of Joe Williams in Memorial Auditorium in the late 60's and early 70's.   My knob year, '79, was a great year to be a bulldog fan in MCFH, with Swing, French,  Davis, Slawson, Nesbit, etc ..     I have seen a few Citadel BBall games in my lifetime and go to most home games,  as I live in Mt Plsnt.   With that being most humbly said as a lifelong dawg bball fan, I like the young men on the team that represent us and our school, as well as Coach Baucom and his assistants.     From what I have seen so far, if we can get Hayden Brown back and get everyone healthy,  I like this team and coach, win or lose.

You are correct - I was not a fan of the Baucom hire.  He had LIMITED success at VeeMee, and his resume did not impress me in the least, I but was willing to give him a chance, as long as we saw steady improvement each year.  That has not happened (2015-16: 3-15; 2016-17: 4-14; 2017-18: 5-13; 2018-2019: 4-14).  If the team does not finish above .500 in SOCON play this year, then it is time for him to go & give someone else a shot.  Is Conroy available??????

And yes, I too remember that '79-'80 team!!

Well, Merry Christmas to all. That said, yes I like Duggar too but it’s time to start winning And 5 years is enough time to accomplish that. Maybe if Brown comes back, we win 12-15 games and he gets another year... maybe. We need to move away from the “he’s a great guy and the kids try hard” attitude. Need to start winning or find someone that can. IT CAN BE DONE. Again, Merry Christmas to all and Go Dogs.

Baucom was a big improvement over chucky d who was obviously  hired for his name not his qualifications; we could have done better than a guy whose only HC experience was at a DIII school and Naval Academy Prep. That said he has made no progress in improving the program and we are still mired in the same mediocrity we had under chuck; agree with above comments that its time to put up or shut up.

Team is 6-6 through first 12 games. Best case scenario would of been 8-4 if boys played better against UNCA and Campbell. Both those teams have played fairly well and have winning records, I believe. Played Georgia well entire game and they have a lottery pick this year. Played NC State even in second half, played Illinois well in first half, both games without leading scorer Brown and top sub, Gammons. Both those teams I feel, will be NCAA tournament teams. If they can eliminate bad stretches, they can be successful in SOCON, which continues to be a really tough Conference top to bottom, more so than it was years ago. Played ETSU even aside from bad 5 to 8 minute stretch after Brown went out.
