Congratulations to your son. He sounds like he will be a great fit for The Citadel. The 4 year journey will be tough, but the end result is worth it.

Bench was 325lbs last year just after his 17th Birthday only one I could find, more recent he has done 330 for 3 reps.  Dead lift was about 3 months ago Just over 500lbs I don't have a squat but he does work out with 405lbs on heavy days.

That’s a lot of weight! He’s definitely not wasting time during the pandemic.

Great to see him working hard in the off season. He will have a challenging road ahead but this is a road less
Travels and he will do fine.

Wasn’t Adrian Luster number 55? I remember him cramping so hard after camp one day I rushed to get Andy Clausen and he cut his shoulder pads off him. Think that was 97’.

Ethan is now 261 LBS stronger than ever and still fast, has been crushing the weights instead of boredom he works out and runs. He has been working on explosiveness and coming off the line fast and hard, we have some crazy training techniques and his diet is very controlled except Pizza Friday...expect he will make Coach Thompson very happy. We have been devoted to saying thank you by coming to camp in the best shape he can.

Go Dawgs
Curt

PS
his Hudl was never updated on his weight since 11 grade. He was 238 for his football camp after running every day for 2 months trying for a USMC ROTC scholarship. That was killing his weight and strength. So we decided if he really wanted football he needed a FOOTBALL scholarship. He is very devoted and easy to coach. Again we want to SHOW thanks by being in shape for Coach Thompson and Coach Boyd!

Good background, correct attitude, judgment seems sound, did the same thing I did (was focused on Annapolis until I visited El Cid)... hopefully no girlfriend far away to mess him up with a Dear John... chose El Cid for all the right reasons...

Looks like a winner

To Mr Goyette,

If you have not yet done so find out when you can see the Engineering Dean Col Ron Welch. You talk about committed. He spent an hour and a half with my grandson one evening telling him what the Citadel could do for him. Sorry to say we could not get it to click. They have a relative new program, but they can give their students much more attention than most places. My many years ago engineering degree and the Citadel experience sure worked for me.  I'll bet it does for Ethan also.
