Lots of bullshit calls by the refs in the 4th quarter combined with our turnovers sealed our fate.

Hard one to watch us lose in person. Oh, and f u c k UTC fans. They are the worst.

This is especially the case if your D is playing like exlax throughout the past 1.5 quarters. Gotta run the offense and give yourself a chance at the 1st down. Especially with Bulmer killing them off tackle....on the perimeter. That is the big benefit of the option....you can salt away a game at the end. Not today for the Dogs.

D was certainly no help once the cascading 15 yard penalties started flying. We gave up 22 fourth-quarter points. Not sure why we stopped getting pressure on their QB. Maybe an adjustment by Chat.....maybe we went prevent. Throw in a missed FG and this is a loss laid on every phase of the game including the sidelines.

Can’t be more disappointed. Two games this year we pissed away late leads of two scores (Samford and Chatt). VMI - we went away from the option I suppose because Rainey was too hurt to run the ball effectively. Regardless, the Keydets had no business beating us in Charleston. We are 6-5.....but we should be 9-2 with the Silver Shako in Charleston and the SOCON Championship sewn up.

Now that I have that off my chest.....I can turn my eyes to next week.

Go Dogs....Beat Wofford!

Someone PLEASE explain to me the logic of having a 12 point lead and kicking the PAT with a dead ball penalty on Chatt and a chance to go for 2 from the 1.5 yard line to go up by 14. Instead we kick for a 13 point lead and take penalty on kickoff.

This was like a replay of Samford loss. Left points all over the field and lost by 1. I count 15 points that were there for the taking and we whiffed. I drove a 9 hour round trip for this one and am again utterly disgusted. Choked on our own vomit twice and flushed a promising season down the drain.

Quote from Coach Thompson in the p&c.
″(Chattanooga) is putting 11 in the box right there, they know the deal,” Thompson said. “You’re not going to throw the ball and risk stopping the clock or turning the ball over. At the time, those were the best possible play calls.”

That is complete BS and the attitude and character of also-ran, so so teams.

They were not the "best possible play calls."

Championship teams go for it, and put the game away.

Hopefully he was at the basketball game formulating a plan for hiring the next coach after this season is over.

So if they are stacking the box, daring you to throw the ball - THEN THROW THE DAMN BALL!!

We could have run on 1st down & then gone with short screen passes on 2nd & 3rd down.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda about sums up the season. I feel bad for the players and their families.

When you attend a game in person (not behind a keyboard), you can see what it means to them.

Hey we had a helluva tailgate though....Kudos to the TN Valley Club for hosting...Beat WOFFORD!!!!!!

I'm still ticked off about the last two series of play calling in this game.
In the p&c
“We played a little bit conservatively at the end of the game, offensively and defensively,” Thompson said. “But you don’t want to give up the big play like we did against Samford, and that plays on a defensive coordinator’s mind. And we turned the ball over twice in the first quarter, and that plays on a play-caller’s mind.
“If you have the ball pitched out there and it goes on the ground, then you give the game away instead of them earning it.”

SO WHAT? That's BS. Shows no confidence in our players' ability to execute at critical times. Can't win championships with that attitude.

We've got very good, experienced players at QB, RB, and WR. In fact they are probably our best players.
Why not let them win the game????
Let them run the whole offense. Put it in their hands to do great things.

Don't we have a play in the playbook in which Rainey, can run, pitch, or throw out of the option to the wide side of the field?? For 5 yards, 10 yards ?
You have to believe Rainey, and Webb, and McCarthy, and Harris, and Bulmer, can make this play.

Actually ran these plays out of the wishbone in high school when I was the greatest wishbone QB to ever play the game. So........you know......pretty sure Rainey and those guys could pull it off. Right?

Dang son. Let the those men run the offense wide open. Have some confidence.

I would piggyback on Games comments and add that playing conservatively has become a theme with this coach and has gotten us in trouble time and again.  The bizarre playcalling makes no sense, we pass on 3d and 1 but run another B Back up the middle on 2d and 12; the outside option is our best weapon so why aren't we running it more.  At a recent presser somebody (possibly Hartsell) asked Thompson about our habit of running up the middle so much and he gave a lame answer about "needing to establish the run".  Its great we are passing more and taking advantage of Webb but that's not what our offense is built on; its the Triple Option so how about using your options more.  Oh and could the secondary  coach maybe teach his players how to turn and look for the ball?

Exactly.. turn around or look at the receivers eyes and then put your hands up!  STF did this on that 4th down play last weekend and it prevented a TD.

Was trying to follow this game with a temperature of 104... and the ending almost put me in the grave. Especially since the last time I had managed to see the score we had just scored 21 unanswered in them.

4th quarter has been tough this season. Towson, Elon... we let CSU back in the game. We let GT back in the game. We couldn’t put Samford away. I think Mercer or Western made it closer in the 4th...

But at least every game out side of VMI has come down to the very end. We just haven’t figured out how to finish. We have the attitude in middle of the game (going for a 4th and 2 from own 20 against Furman) but clam up when we need it the most, to pick up a first down and win the game.

Give the defense another year under the new DC and I think we’ll be solid.

As a team though, have to learn how to finish again.

Ironically they pride themselves on wearing the opponent down towards the end of the game...it seems that just the opposite has been the reality this year.

Sounds like @flyingtiger should apply for the head coach job on campus. You’re an untapped talent.

Seriously. You want to talk about not finishing. Were you around from like 2008 through 2011? I can name some other years since Charlie was run off until this regime.

Look we’re all upset. Believe it or not coaches and players are in front of us. Stop making it sound like we have Tom Moore coaching this team, and get a dose of reality.
