After watching the VMI game today and the last 7 SOCON games, I'm going to say it now:

DAWGs will not win another regular season SOCON game this year.  You read it here first.

Not being negative, hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see anything that leads me to believe otherwise.  We've played every SOCON team once, and it is obvious that VMI & us are the bottom 2 teams in the SOCON and we barely beat them on our home court.

I'll still try to watch every game and will be rooting for the DAWGs to win, but it won't be a shock to me if they don't.

The lack of big man talk is frustrating. I thought this coach was bringing a run and gun no defense style of play that would score 100 plus so no defense needed? A style of AAU YMCA ball that could work?
The system is not sustainable. He had limited success at VMI with it but it is sloppy gym rat basketball that cannot win consistently. This is proving out to be true. I like getting up and down the court but when you do that and shoot 3’s with no rebounding and no real offense a full 5 seconds in to the shot clock you better be an outrageously good shooting team or you lose.

AGREE 100%!!!!  Has anything changed since last year???????

From my post on 7 Jan 2017 after the VMI game:

"As I've said before on other threads - for us to have any chance of winning, we need to shoot better than about 45% from the field, and 35% from 3.

With our porous defense & lack of height inside, anything less than that is a disaster.

Look at our loses.

How many games have we won where we shot less than 45% from the field & 35% from 3???????"

I don't know about losing every game.  Those games we lost a week ago went to 2 points at the buzzer.  If we would have had even average shooting against WCU we would have won by 10-15; the shots simply weren't falling that day.  We have 2-3 more SOCON wins hanging out there, and by breaking the losing streak I think perhaps the guys get it out of their heads and get back to winning.

I do agree about getting some big men - it is impossible to sustain wins if you are getting beat on both O and D boards every game.  Unless an unknown freshman or grad transfer comes in next season it seems unlikely to cure that one for a while.

UNCG absolutely made us look sick.  I hope we can the pull the upset on our court, but not likely.  However, I still think 4-5 are definitely possible.
