It's going to happen, we must have an aggressive plan to deal with it and move on. I don't know when a vaccine will be ready but it looks like Clemson and LSU will be hitting herd immunity by July 31 and that is probably by design not chance.

Given current state of Covid19 infections in US, I think chances of playing college football this fall is low. Impossible to social distance playing or practicing football. I don't believe there will be a reasonable vaccine until next Summer at the earliest.
I hope I am wrong .

Herd immunity is another option but that applies to a larger community than just a football team. The US has a long way to 60-65 percent infection if current estimates are 8-12 percent.

Last possibility is the SARS-CoV-2 virus mutates and eventual burns out.

Hope all our players and staff recover quickly.

Never thought I would give a GO BULLDOGS! for more than 5200 new COVID-19 cases in my home state, Florida. But that is down from 9585 on Sat. and 8530 Sun. If we can get to 1000 in a couple of weeks, we may have football. I will get a haircut to celebrate.

I really don’t see how this season gets played.

We don’t even know yet what kind of immunity is conferred from having this virus, so for all we know herd immunity could be a pipe dream. The most prolific coronavirus is the one that causes the common cold. There is no lasting immunity to that virus. And if there’s one case on a team, that’s at least 3 weeks of cancelled games for that team, which means three opponents dropping games also.

Full contact sports are just not going to happen while this thing is burning its way through the population.

Spring football is the most realistic possibility at this point, I think. And it is by no means guaranteed.

Covid stats are like Crime Stats, you have to report the crime to be a statistic. As we test broader communities we get more accurate statistics.

The Citadel was a part of the first NCAA wave of testing..
Wave 1 South Car, FLA, Georgia schools reported back 2 + weeks ago and we began testing an untested group- healthy looking asymptomatic college students. Case numbers went up- their peers were tested...my niece was part of the 2nd wave 2 weeks ago- healthy asymptomatic and positive.

Wave 2 NC and VA NCAA teams report back this week. We will test thousands of healthy asymptomatic college age athletes and’10 percent or less will test positive, springing tests for all of their non-athlete peers.

Wave 3 West Coast?

Covid is real. Covid policy is political. Covid numbers drive policy. Until we can test everybody, our Covid statistics are flawed.
