Reply with quote | #1 | I went to meet the bulldogs tonight and here are some of my notes.
Pretty solid turnout of grads, families, and faculty all excited for the Bulldogs to start the season. There were free hot dogs, cokes, and cookies to all who came out.
Not that I really care, but to appease some of the curmudgeons on this board, Wolfinger had a clean shave and shorter hair than I had as a senior. More importantly he looked great running with the 1st team. He didn't display the best hands in transition, but when he was set in the post he handled himself very well. He was 1 for 2 from 3 point land and has a very nice stroke. He was perfect from the free throw line, which will be huge if he can draw lots of double teams and fouls. Had a few blocks and was not beaten out for any loose rebounds.
Bryan Streeter. The guy is a beast. Looks like he hit the weight room hard and is chiseled. Had 2 spectacular dunks, one running the fast break over a teammate, the other a put back he snagged one handed in midair and got a lot of oohs from the crowd. Looks like if we have to go small he won't have a problem bodying up against a lot of centers in the socon.
Matt Clark got a ton of minutes with what appeared to be the 1st team. This kid was very aggressive and was hustling his but off all night.
Eykyn also was workin his but off and should provide some solid depth off the bench.
The canadian kid Tremblay looked alright when he got his chance. But he was matched up against Wolfinger so it was tough to get any good looks.
Wells is a stud looks like he hasn't missed a beat and put on a few pounds of muscle.
Urbanus also bulked up. His shot is silky smooth as always.
Harrison Dupont played a ton of minutes with the 1st team. Didn't really get many looks but he took advantage when he did. Was wearing a face mask like Rip Hamilton I guess he broke his nose.
Nathan Conley was 2 for 2 from 3, very good stroke.

Reply with quote | #2 | I definitely did not do myself proud when chosen to compete in a 3 point shooting contest for a free IPOD touch, but at least I walked away with a $25 itunes card. __________________ "Old times they R not forgotten"

Did Morabbi & Holston play? If so, how did they look? What about Austin Dahn? __________________ LTC (Ret.) |

Reply with quote | #5 | Cosmo got a decent amount of minutes when Wells sat down. He looked pretty solid. Not gonna wow anyone but very smart with his passes.
Holston was playing with the blue team which appeared to be all of our subs he got good minutes and a few good drives.
Dahn hit 1 or 2 threes but didn't play as much I think the coaches wanted to get a better look at Dupont.
Also I forgot to mention who looked the best of all. Coach Conroy looks like he's lost about 40-50 pounds. __________________ "Old times they R not forgotten"

From what you saw in tonight's scrimmage, did you see anything that tells you how you think we'll do? Do you think we have a chance against Mich St & WVU? Think we can take CofC, Woffy, WCU, Davidson & the rest of the SOCON? __________________ LTC (Ret.) |

We never had a chance against MSU and WVU barring the combination of us playing the games of our lives and them stumbling.
As far as the socon. I really like our chances against anyone we face. We will have the most talent on the floor every night, except maybe against CofC. We have a lot of depth. We already knew we had a great backup PG in Cosmo. Dupont and Holston look poised to contribute some really good minutes when Urbanus needs a rest. And I think we have the bench to let Conroy decide if he wants to go big or small, with Clark, Eykyn, Dahn, Tremblay, Streeter to mix and match at the 3 and 4 spot in the lineup.
Forgot to mention earlier that Wolfinger ran a lot of minutes and appeared in pretty good shape so hopefully he can play close to 30 minutes a game barring foul trouble.
Streeter did not shoot any free throws. __________________ "Old times they R not forgotten"
