Are our fans this passionate about our Bulldogs????  I say, NO.  These schools have 30 - 40 thousand PASSIONATE fans.  We have have 1 - 2 thousand (not including the Corps).  We have over 2000 cadets in the Corps now.  No reason there can't be 1800 - 1900 of them at the game raising hell.  When I was a cadet the only time we sat down was if the team was leading;  If we were behind or tied, then we stood.

Imagine the support at Ol 'Miss if they would only stop alienating people with that divisive song and flag. They might then have crowds like us!

I think we have a great atmosphere for tailgating and we play to all sorts look at the age of fans.  We have a good bit of Gold Corps grads out there.

I have noticed over the last few years that the Corps just does not look all that large. Definitely not as big as it did in the 1980s-1990s. Are cadets getting passes for various reasons to skip the game?

Back then, the men's soccer team (they are undefeated this year, BTW) and a few other corps squad athletes were excused. The pipe band left after the march in and returned around the 2nd quarter. Guys on reserve drill were gone. Other than that, EVERY fanny had to be in the stands. Nowadays, I see cadets roaming everywhere. In the home stands, outside the stadium, and I am wondering if there aren't a few hundred excused absences for important things like tests on Monday, hangnails, XMD, etc and a number of unexcused absences?

Just a thought.

Got to a game just after kickoff last season. Parked behind Capers Hall. Counted 20+ cadets strolling back to campus for no obvious reason. Beats me. I guess its optional.

Leaving for the game two years ago, I took the elevator to go down to the lobby of the hotel. There were 4 cadets on fall corp squad going up. They were excused for the ball game because they were on fall corp squad. I beleive it is part of the plan top increase retention.

Unless they are preparing for an upcoming competition, then they need to be at the game.  Corps squad needs to support the other sports whether in season or not.

Ole Miss probably started with 2 or 3 thousand and it grew because folks wanted to be there and were passionate about their school/team (and how long do you think it has been since Ole Miss was in contention for an SEC title?)....

As for cadets- as long as they are at the game cheering the Dawgs, I'm fine with it.  If they're AWOL- no excuse.

Understand JCLINE has the best tailgate at El CID-  The challenge should be to beat JCLINE (CONGRATS FOR BEING #1)!

Anyone notice the band playing across the Big Bulldog at Congress/Hagood?

Rob Fox, Citadel grad has brought his band the last two home games!!

Perhaps we should come up with a Tailgate Ranking System and vote on who has the best tailgate at Cid home games (usually the tailgate with the most people wins)???
