Rough going the second half.  Having lead VMI for most of the game let them charge ahead, and now down by 4 with 7 minutes left.  Seen this story before . . .

Correction it was 82-82.  VMI misses, Najdawi rebound, kick out to Williams who runs the court, lays it up with no time the clock!!!  Dogs win!!!!!!!

Finally, broke the losing streak.  Let's take it to Furman and Wofford in our house next week!

DAWGs win, 84 - 82 as Williams makes a layup as time expires.

That's about the only good thing I can say about this game. That and the play of Lew Stallworth with 29 points.
Poor shooting (23.3% from 3; 7 of 30), sloppy ball handling (15 turnovers), no energy in the building until the last minute.

Cadets were sitting on their hands until the last minute of the game.  VMI would go to the FT line & all the cadets behind the basket were just sitting & watching or playing with their phones until the last minute of the game.

We still only shot 23% (7-30) on threes for a team that says it thrives on them.  I would think 7 threes is about average for most D1 teams.

We were 47% overall though.

I did see cadets getting into the game on my screen 81Dawg, thought they really got fired up more in the last couple of minutes.  They rushed the court afterwards.  I think an 0-8 run was a gut killer for fan/corps attendance/motivation, and the corps was finally glad to get a win.  Let's see if the cadets show up for Furman . . . .

Watch the replay of the 2nd half when VMI goes to the FT line (14:50 left in the game @ 1 hour and 17 minutes & 14:30 left in the game @ 1 hour 19 minutes into the broadcast are 2 examples).  No excitement or enthusiasm from the cadets sitting behind the basket.

81 Dawg I disagree, I was at the games and I thought the cadets were very involved.  They cheered a great deal and the coach said on his post game show the they probably won because of corps noise.  They did a great job in my opinion and more important in coach Baucom view.  Anyway it was a great win, they could have folded but instead hung tough and won the game.

Congrats to The Citadel for a wild & exciting win......I was worried a bit when the Dogs took a 11 point lead in the first half and the Corps there was really into the game.....but things took a turn in the 2nd half.   I got a bit confident when VMI took that 6 point lead with about five minutes ago, then VMI with 3  turnovers + 3 missed FT's.   Dogs took advantage of those situations, wound up with the "W"....   good luck in 2nd half of SoCon season.

OK.  I'll defer to you since you were there in person, and I was watching on ESPN+.  Based on the 2 examples I gave, as well as what I saw/heard throughout the rest of the game, it did not look like you described.

Agree with Cid68. I was at the game. Great atmosphere. Cadets were into the game, involved and the Mac was a strong home court advantage yesterday. Time will tell but this buzzer beater win may just be the catalyst this team needed to surprise some teams in the second half of Socon play.

Let’s start with Furman and Wofford
