2014 class.

2 players from Furman
Cameron ...a coach from Duke
Jerry Freaking Moore ...a coach from Appy
Charlie Teague ..a baseball player from Wake.

Something tells me they need to let more than 5 people in a year if they are going to just put in people from Duke and Wake and 2 of the 5 this year are coaches.

What a darn joke

Yeah it seems like they have had 40 years to suck up to the former SoCon teams now in the ACC... perhaps they should stick with more modern members

That said, if Chad Pennington or Pothead from Marshall get in .... or are they there already?

That would be zero.

Ridiculous on every single level.

The SOCON HOF has only been around since 2009 and many of the inductees are pretty well known athletes. I suspect our guys will be getting in shortly.

Go Bulldogs!

I have my doubts. Actually, the SoCon Hall of Fame is an embarrassment to the league.

Here is what the league says:

Quote:
Student-athletes who competed for a minimum of two seasons in the Southern Conference were eligible for consideration, along with coaches and administrators who spent at least five years in the league. A pool of more than 250 candidates from the conference’s current and former member institutions were nominated for consideration. The pool of former student-athletes, coaches and administrators was cut down to 45 individuals, who comprised the final ballot. A voting panel of 20 media members and league administrators made the selection of the induction class.

I don't know exactly who votes, other than I believe John Frierson (who just left his job as the UTC beat writer for the Chattanooga paper) and Darren Goldwater both voted. Jeff Hartsell apparently does not have a vote.

I am concerned with that "league administrators" mention. There are other issues, and for the record, I'm posting about this continued snub tomorrow morning.

Darren got on there fairly quickly and maybe will comment on the selection of "well known" athletes and anonymous officials. Such as Charlie Teague, who may be a combo ballot of Charlie Taaffe and eddie Teague.

How is it that a 1st team D1 FB All American like Brian Ruff is not in the SOCON HOF?  John Small? Stump Mitchell?  Greg Davis?  Travis Jervey? Britt Reames?  Rick Swing?

The list goes on & on!

Ruff's absence really is inexplicable, in my opinion.

Clemson already has an inductee. I'm betting on Sewanee getting somebody in next year.
