Citadel4Lyfe I certainly don't agree with you.  I think Jim has done a wonderful job and it would be a big loss if he leaves.

Jim has been an outstanding AD and will be difficult to replace. The best yet in my over 58years of enjoying Bulldog activities, Jim is always there looking and acting like a professional that he is....

Great AD!...hope he stays. Just after he was hired.....I get approached in an airport by a man who notices my Citadel Hat and says, "Hi, I'm Jim Senter....new AD at The Citadel. I would like to ask your opinion of our athletics programs." We talked for about 15 min about the school, the corps, FB offense, BB and baseball under the previous coaches, etc. Very gracious....tremendous first impression. If he stays....Hoorah! If he leaves, good luck!.....and let's get a person with similar qualities on board. Go Dogs!

I agree with him being very approachable, and it appears to me that he's been doing a fantastic job.

I was in the stands of a Spring Football game recently at JHS, and "fans" were yelling their opinions of various players (both positive and negative) and I heard someone behind me say "we seem to have a lot of coaches here today". I laughed and said over my shoulder, "A lot of armchair coaches." The gentleman laughed so I turned to look back and froze. He reached his hand out to shake mine and said, "Hello, I'm Jim Senter." I chuckled and said, "I know who you are. It's a pleasure to meet you. "

We chatted and shared laughs for a good 20 minutes before he and his group gathered up their stuff and headed down.

That was the AD, sitting among the fans, yukking it up with us. I was impressed.

Jim is a good AD and has done a good job. I hope he gets what he wants as I know he is a west coast guy.

So, you want the guy to lose out on the job he applied for so he can stay in a job he wants to leave? Not tracking that logic. Does not take away from what he has done for us, but it certainly impacts what he will do moving forward. I would rather not hold on to someone who wants to leave. It means he will not be 100% invested in us. It also means that he will be applying for other jobs until he finds the one that will let him leave. It also diminishes the trust of his employers and employees.

Citadel4Lyfe does have a point -- other than the one on his head.  If Jim is looking around, it's best for all parties that he leave sooner rather than later.  If he applied for UTEP, he'll apply for others. UTEP isn't exactly a destination AD job and neither is The Citadel.

Naw, quit jumping to conclusions.

I suspect he was approached by a head hunter who was hired by a search committee. It could even be the head hunter that helped place him at El Cid that re-approached him after nearly 3 years.

It's the way it works in these professions, because tomorrow you can be fired!

It certainly doesn't mean he was actively looking, but when someone comes knocking offering a substantial raise it doesn't hurt to take a peak. Only a FOOL would not do that.

I like Senter.  He's very personable and a great ambassador for our brand, but he's like Houston. He's likely not going to be here for long unless old successful white guy AD's run out of fashion.

I bumped into him at the Florida State game right after he took over.  I will say that he was genuinely glad to meet grads, and was extremely interested in my comments.  Believe from that meeting he is the type of guy who takes his responsibilities very seriously, and care for what the base is thinking.

I would be disappointed to see him go, but good luck to him if he does, and hopes he helps provide us a similar replacement.
