Hard to watch.
We look like we are sleep walking and furburger looks like they want it more than we do.

We can't hit open shots when we need them.

Another year of basketball. Pound a handful of D-II's and get owned in conference. Make plans for the play-in game come March. OBTW, feel free to play some defense!

Down by 20, 97 - 77 w/ under 2 minutes left.  Vermin on an 18 - 2 run.  DAWGS shooting is cold: missed 10 of their last 12 shots.  Not as good as we thought.  This is a good, not great team. Will finish over .500 & but will not win the SOCON or make the NCAAs.

2nd straight blowout on the road by a SOCON team, as the DAWGs lose, 101 - 85.

Only difference is that this year, we are not losing games by 50+ points & are beating some D-1 teams.

If you look at the stats the big difference is rebounds, they hd over 20 more rebounds than us and many more offensive ones.  Shooting percentage not bad but the rebounding killed us.

You are right on the money:  They had 20 offensive rebounds that led to 25 2nd chance points & we only had 3 offensive rebounds for 8 2nd chance points.

Agreed on the rebounds.  I was much happier to watch the first 3/4 of this game where we stayed in it the whole time.  Shooting went absolutely cold in those last 7-8 minutes, but that's gonna happen.  What was painful to watch were the repeated 2nd (and even 3rd) chances Furman got on offensive rebounds; if we could have gotten half of those it could have changed this game.  And Najdawi got manhandled by their center; while a superb baller, he just doesn't have the size to deal with other SOCON big men.  Not sure how, but Coach is going to have to recruit some big guys or this will be on continuing problem.

I am still optimistic.  Against the two of the best teams in the league we fell completely flat on one, but recovered against the second one and played them very competitively for most of the game.  Couple of home games, and let's see if we can get back over .500.

Something we have to remember is ETSU beat Furman, at ETSU.  Hopefully being at home will help and maybe since classes start today some of the corps will come out and support the team.  That would certainly be helpful.

While I think I understand, and to some extent agree with what you are saying, your lead in statement is somewhat inaccurate ... and for me too early to throw in the towel.

We have 1 exhibition win against a NCAA DII team.  Outside of that ... of our non-conference wins ... We have 5 against D-I teams; 0 against D-II, D-III, and NAIA; and 3 against USCAA (1) and NCCAA (2) teams.  The latter 3 games are cupcakes.  The 5 wins against JMU, SEMO, South Florida, Campbell, and High Point are against D-1 competition.

Wofford is GOOD, Furman is GOOD.  The blowouts were ugly and frustrating ... But, we still have a shot at our first winning season in 10 years.  Can we win 6 more conference games to make that happen?  The rest of the conference are not Wofford and Furman.

We as a program have a long way to go from where we have been.  So as always I want to see progress.

This team has a hot streak left in it. I hope it pops up in early March

You are right Biff, that was said out of frustration. Frustrated because I see the potential this group has. Lotta basketball to play.

I agree with you on that!  Very frustrated with the last three games with the start we had.
