What are ya'lls thoughts on the fact that EVERY team sport (not counting track & field and cross country) finished the season w/ a losing record?:

FOOTBALL:  5 - 6

BASKETBALL: 11 - 21

BASEBALL: So far, 17 - 31

WRESTLING: 1 - 12

RIFLE: 14 - 15

TENNIS: 10 - 25

W. VOLLEYBALL:  8 - 26

W. SOCCER: 5 - 13

W. RIFLE: 14 - 15

W. GOLF:  8TH out of 9 in the SOCON Championship

Not including W. golf, that's a composite record of 85 - 164, for a .341 winning percentage.

We should be able to do better than winning just 1/3 of our contests.

We are in low times.

As for the AD position.... loyalty has been replaced by money. At the end of the day, there's a LOT of money to be made in college sports - all the way up to the AD level. We are an increasingly mobile society and the days of having people stick around long enough to really bring about solid, lasting success are long gone, unless you want to spend a LOT of money. Senter was good, and he will wind up a big time AD at a big time school, but the way you get there is build a resume and you do that at the little schools.

It all comes down to how much money we are willing to invest in the arms race that is college athletics.

The one ray of light right now is Tony Skole. I don't think he's here to build a resume. I could be wrong (I thought the same thing about Conroy) but I suspect he will be with us for a while.

Football will be back this year. Think 2015 minus SEC win. Don’t understand why we have got our asses handed to us in baseball and rifle for almost a decade now. No f’ing excuse.

Equally disturbing is the number of lame victories in several sports. When our few victories are over DII schools and HBCUs (who are horrible), I don’t see how we practically consider that any type of success.

I hope you're right

But I am still cautiously optimistic. The OL needs to have matured a bunch. I don't know if one year is enough.

Looks like we are maintaining our normalcy.

Face reality.  You are asking a 17-18yr old who's frontal cortex is 3-4 yrs away from full development to make an informed decision about their future when all they can think about is - sex, getting high, getting smoked, getting drunk and avoiding homework or getting out of doing it?

MOST of the these kids want to go to a place where they can feel "special" and be treated "special," just like they were in high school. They don't want to go to a place where they are a no-body and reminded of that every day by the people that surround them their first year in college.

Until you can overcome that reality, the reality for us is that we will NOT attract the best of the best athletes that you can build a championship college sport team with.  Occasionally a blind squirrel finds a nut and that is us.

There is a lot of truth to what Bulldog85 said, but I would expect our performance on the field/court to be a little better than winning 33% of the time.

MY expectations for each sport is that:

50% of the time we win 50% of our contests;

20% of the time we win less than 50% (but never less than 1/3 of our games);

20% of the time we win over 50% of our contests (Make the playoff in 1/2 of those);

10% of the time we win 90% of our contests (SOCON Champion/playoff team).  That's 1 SOCON Championship every 10 years & make the playoffs about 3 times in 10 years.

Unfortunately, our history has not lived up to this expectation.

I expect to beat SCAR in football every 25 years.
1990 - check
2015 - check
2040 looks to be a great year.

Better be sooner than that.  I'm not sure I'll live that long!!

Looks like it will not be an option since they have told us that we will no longer be an option for them.  Clemson has stepped up nicely every 3-4 years to take their spot.
2018- AL
2019- GT
2020 -CU

Guess that getting beat 2 out of 3 was too much for the 'Cocks and they don't cotton to another whip down.

Having bragging rights until the next time they play us is fine with me
