Very enlightening article

http://www.postandcourier.com/20160624/160629670/how-a-college-drug-ring-hid-in-plain-sight

It was one of Charleston’s bigger drug busts: A network of present and former College of Charlestn students and other 20-somethings accused of funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars of cocaine, pills and other narcotics into downtown’s white-hot party scene.

But the bust only hinted at a problem that’s been hiding in plain sight for years: A drug- and booze-fueled culture around the college that generates enormous profits for young drug dealers even as it increases risks of addiction and violence.

A Post and Courier examination of police and court documents, along with interviews with people knowledgeable about the drug ring, reveal an eye-opening portrait of audacity and excess.

Operating from million-dollar homes steps away from the college’s oak-shaded courtyards, networks of students and former students stamped out pills by the thousands with a factory-grade press using chemicals from Chinese internet suppliers and other sources.

They obtained large amounts of cocaine from suppliers in Georgia and marijuana by mail from states where its use is legal. Then they found a steady supply of customers among the thousands of students and other young people who pack downtown’s historic district.

Heaven forbid if Citadel alumni stay in the city parking lot tailgating an hour after the game. That's a problem according to Mullen.

When you have young people and a who-gives-a-crap attitude by the MSM concerning certain recreational drugs and the entertainment industry basically agitproping this behavior as normal and expected, then no college campus is off limits. We've had our own problems with the scourge of drugs and alcohol.

Mullen went after that because it was easy. He's a sanctimonious prick. He'll try to look like a crime fighter but he isn't willing to break any eggs so he has to go after the window dressing and the low hanging fruit.

What I don't understand is all the manpower CPD uses at our games. Is the Chief afraid of something happening because of drinking? I would think that all those Officers should be patrolling other areas.

The useless P&C now refers to this as "an alleged drug ring involving Charleston college students and others" instead of what it really is - a C0LL3GE of CHARL3ST0N DRUG RING!!

AMAZING bias!!!

He got probation! The deterrent for dealing drugs just got weaker. Looks like the solicitor bailed on this one and dropped the charges on another one. Article was weak as a follow up to the entire drug ring with little details. When I talk to CofC students they say that drugs are everywhere in downtown Charleston, they look like they are everywhere to me based on the OD's that you read about. There were two in my county last weekend alone.
