Um... there is zero chatter about today's game?

Well, ok. I'm guessing...

Citadel 28
Samford 24

Go Dogs!

Great comeback, 42-27 victory over supposedly top 15 Samford.........

VMI as usual had a chance to really mess up the socon race, but Keydets laid a 250-lb. turd.....

Defensive coach’s made some nice adjustments. Offense wore them down with Rainey playing his heart out. Thank you dogs for the GREAT comeback !

We were all at the game, or watching it in disbelief.

Rainey was our answer all year we just failed to see it earlier.
Hold onto the ball son.

Really good crowd, too busy cheering on the Bulldogs to post on the message board...

I was there - no post for me.  Was trying to catch some of that money raining down from the upper levels!

Great, great win, improbable after going 21-0.  Boys had it in their hearts, and for the second week in a row, Coach must have said something at halftime that made them blow up.  Whatever he was selling I want to buy some of it!

Really proud of these young men!

After Miss St gets shut out after the LSU shutout, we score once at 'Bama we are doing better than them.  Bring it on!

From Southern Pigskin:

http://www.southernpigskin.com/socon/week-eleven-socon-award-winners/

Highlighting the top players in the SoCon during week eleven.

Offensive Player of the Week: The Citadel’s Brandon Rainey rushed for 206 yards on 25 carries with one touchdown to lead The Citadel over Samford 42-27.  Rainey’s 60-yard touchdown run early in the 4th quarter gave The Citadel their first lead of the day 28-27 after falling behind 21-0 before halftime.

Defensive Player of the Week: Furman’s Adrian Hope continued his great late season play leading the Paladins defense with 6 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble beating VMI 49-13.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Mercer’s Stephen Houzah set a school record with 177 return yards in Mercer’s 13-9 win over Chattanooga.  Houzah set up Mercer’s first score with a 73-yard kickoff return early in the 4th quarter and then set up the Bears winning score late in the 4th quarter with a 91-yard punt return.

Coach of the Week: The Citadel’s Brent Thompson led his Bulldogs to a come from behind win over Samford 42-27.  The Citadel trailed 21-0 early in the second quarter and 24-7 at halftime.

X-Factor of the Week: The Citadel’s Lorenzo Ward ran for four touchdowns in The Citadel’s come from behind win over Samford 42-27.  Ward scored from 5 yards, 1 yard, 43 yards and 4 yards to lead the Bulldogs.

A big time ground attack gone bad; most ever rushing yards by a D1 team, and still lost:

http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25237938/davidson-wildcats-rush-record-789-yards-loss-san-diego-toreros

Davidson rushed for 789 yards Saturday at San Diego -- the most ever by an FCS or FBS team in a single game -- and lost.

I can’t see Hatcher being long for Samford. He is a consistent underachiever

It was a good crowd in the stands and the tents. Too many folks didn't come back from halftime though and the team notices that stuff also. I like the move putting the knobs next to the alumni, that way I can't see them on their phones during the entire game.[biggrin]

Rainey now has 2 of the top 5 rushing performances by a Citadel qb, quite a start for the young man and that is going to open up the A back and the B back. His head/pitch fake in the 3rd quarter was a beauty, reminded us of the Dom Allen fake against Gardner Webb that busted that game open.

Great win for a great group of young men.

I'm dead serious.

He has coached some very talented teams and he always finds a way to make them mediocre.

With Rainey we are the better team (obviously) - but a team with the athletes that Samford has should never allow any FCS opponent to hang 28 on them in 1 quarter. That comes down to Hatcher alone.
