Duggar Baucom, head coach of The Citadel basketball team, is this week's special guest at Charleston Sports Pub in Mount Pleasant.  Hosts Kyle Weaver and Jeff Hartsell discuss the departure of Jim Senter as the school's athletics director.  And several players on the Bulldogs' football team earn all-SoCon postseason honors.

Jeff Hartsell said that BT is moving Brandon Rainey back to QB.

Next year QBs are:  Black, McCarthy, Rainey

B-backs:  McField, Berry, Ward

A-backs:  Drakeford, Sessions, Johnson, Brooks

It is going to be a strong backfield with competition, already getting ready for an interesting spring practice.

Wait, back to QB????

Hmmm well he made the All SOCON Freshman team as a B back, why wouldn't we leave him there?  I know that would leave 1 junior QB, 1 RSFrosh and whom ever we bring in next year..

Hopefully they are recruiting heavy in the QB position.

Mcfiled evidently has a shot to return from his possible career ending keg injury--

He will find out in Spring if the return is indeed an option.  I hope so for his sake and ours!

He is a beast-

Well Rainey racked up some mighty impressive numbers in high school including 105 TDs responsible for so he must have a good arm and has to be an improvement over Allen in accuracy. Has bulked up considerably and the experience at B Back should make him a much tougher runner. Don't be surprised if he is the starter come next September.

I would be more than shocked as Jordan Black was a much higher recruit out of HS.  He was Houstons #1 target that year.  He really has not had a chance to show what he can do.  Unfortunately he first time will be at one of the nations best defenses on the road.  If he can pull that one off....look out!  He is the most dual threat kid we have had in recent memory.

Let's also not forget that Black, as a starter, gave us our first SoCon victory on the road to our undefeated conference schedule in 2016..... on the road, at Mercer.

He's a good kid and he's a baller. I think the job is his to lose only.

I had a keg injury at Dog Day in 1990

It wasn't career ending... keg injuries rarely are unless they happen at a church function

My class full Brigadier Foundation scholarship (1968 only class fully funded scholarship over $500,000) is to Brandon Rainey.  My classmate and I had dinner with him at the Brigadier Scholarship dinner last night a great evening.  Fine young man and he confirmed that he has been moved to quarterback.  Excited for the challenge but was not an option quarterback in high school.  He ran it last spring.  I asked him if he was faster than Jordan Black and he said no.  So we will see what happens in spring practice.  He said that he thought running as a B back this last year will make him a better quarterback.  He understands the blocking better and of course the job of the B back.

I think Rainey will push Black. And that is one starting job I can guarantee will be open this Spring, as it should be.
