Kennesaw State (FCS): Source tells FootballScoop The Citadel defensive coordinator Blake Harrell is expected to join Brian Bohannon’s staff at Kennesaw State in the same capacity. Harrell has been at the Citadel the past five seasons. Prior to joining the staff at the Citadel, Harrell was at Lenoir-Rhyne.

Interesting move for Blake, someone will have to pick up the recruiting slack. He did a very good job in that area as well as DC.

Good luck to him.

Highly doubtful Maurice comes back as anything other than a head coach

There are some good young coaches on the staff, might be time to give them a chance.

It would be good to have Drayton back in the fold.

Per this site ... https://www.admin.sc.gov/accountabil...aries?a=44&j=0 ... Harrell was in the low $80Ks. Per this site ... https://ctlsites.uga.edu/sportsenter...tball-coaches/ ... Harrell will be making in the low $90Ks.

Is this a career move?  or something else?

Lateral move at best . Many would take 10k less to live in Charleston. 10K isn’t going to have that much impact after taxes . The bigger question is how does a Big South school pay more than a socon school.

May have been trying to get a raise from The Citadel. KSU could have been his fallback (gotta secure that first). It’s how I got the majority of my raises throughout my career. (COLA raises don’t count).

Kennesaw has a huge student body that I’m sure they soak with fees to supplement athletics. Bet there’s money to burn to pay football coaches.

Charleston is stupid expensive to live in. You’d have to live somewhere not too far from downtown. At farthest you’d live in Hanahan. So you either paying downtown and James Island high housing or your living somewhere that you a probably going to pay for private school for your kids.

Atlanta is not exactly economical. But the school is on the north side of ATL. It may be a situation that’s better as far as stretching your pay.

If you haven't heard...

Harrell is gone to be DC at Kennesaw State.

Joel Taylor is gone to be DC at Lenoir Rhyne.

JP Gunter is gone to be ??? at ECU.

Yielding has evidently been let go.

That is a LOT of change... and Gunter, Taylor and Harrell were the three best recruiters on this staff in my opinion.

This is a very concerning development, folks.
