Obviously, we don't know the schedule yet (though we do know the teams we will play). This is a thread to try to put it together prior to the official release, based on available information.

So far, this is what we know. We will play 12 games over the course of 13 weeks. Six will be home games, six will be on the road.

Established game dates:

8/31: Towson

9/7: at Elon

9/14: at Georgia Tech

10/26: Mercer (and I believe this is also Homecoming)

--

Other games:

Home: Charleston Southern, VMI, Western Carolina, Wofford
Away: Chattanooga, ETSU, Furman, Samford

Based on other schedules that have been released, these are the possibilities for each of the other respective Saturdays:

9/21: Charleston Southern, Western Carolina, BYE

9/28: Charleston Southern, VMI, Western Carolina, Wofford, at Chattanooga, at ETSU, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

10/5: Charleston Southern, VMI, Wofford, at ETSU, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

10/12:  VMI, Western Carolina, Wofford, at Chattanooga, at ETSU, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

10/19:  Western Carolina, Wofford, at Chattanooga, at ETSU, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

11/2:  VMI, Western Carolina, at Chattanooga, at ETSU, at Furman, BYE

11/9:  VMI, Western Carolina, at Chattanooga, at ETSU, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

11/16:  Western Carolina, Wofford, at Chattanooga, at Furman, at Samford, BYE

11/23:  at Chattanooga, at Furman, BYE

--

Note: I am assuming the corps will be on the normal Thanksgiving furlough schedule next year. If so, The Citadel cannot play a home game on 11/23. That reduces the number of options.

Also, while I have listed as a potential option a game at Furman on 11/23, the Paladins are apparently trying to find a 12th game for next season, and have advertised that they have 11/23 available to play such a contest.

If so, that means the Bulldogs will either play at Chattanooga on 11/23, or will have a bye. I would hate for the bye to come after 12 consecutive games.

--

Any thoughts, comments, etc. are appreciated. Yes, I know this is a largely pointless project. On the other hand, I would like to know the schedule as soon as possible (particularly the bye week).

Looks like Spike should have called 68 before he did all that work.   [rofl][rofl][rofl]

Merry Christmas

Tell me about it. Thanks, though.

One question: are we really going to play a home game versus Wofford on November 23? I would have guessed that furlough next year will begin on the 22nd (because Thanksgiving Day next year is November 28). If that is the case, the corps wouldn't be in attendance -- and I thought that was a no-no.

I hate having the bye so late in the year, too.

I agree, don't like the schedule but I have no power or influence on that.  Perhaps Thanksgiving furlough will start after the game on Saturday and go a day longer.  I don't think The Citadel has any power to change the Southern Conference schedule, it is dictated by the conference.  I also hate that the open week is so late in the schedule.

We didn't get off until the Wednesday, noon, before Thanksgiving, I think the millenials put a stop to that.

Back in the day (fall of 1964) we only got Thanksgiving Day and had class on Friday.  After that we got off after our last class on Wednesday and had to be back for  evening formation on Sunday.  That was a very long time ago and things change even at The Citadel.  When the official Citadel academic calendar for 2019-20 comes out it will have information on when the furlough starts and ends.

Maybe someone can get to the commandant to have Furlough begin after the game?  Then again, the anti-sports nerds in the corps (which are plentiful) will likely be frustrated with that, call their mommy, and get it changed ...

Having the entire week of Thanksgiving off has become commonplace in colleges now.

Hell no. We CANNOT play Wofford at the end of the season without the Corps there at JHS. No way that the admin will do that. Keep them till Sunday morning.

Ive got money on a hurricane postponing our game with FCSU again and getting rescheduled to the open week. Either that or we may actually be on the road when said hurricane threatens.

Its commonplace now to expect a September hurricane anymore.

Flip flop the VMI game w/the open weekend.......perfect for your bye week, and VMI/The Citadel should always be in november.....both parties need to brow-beat the SoCon office...

How would that flip affect VMI's sked?

It would not......since only Mercer has formally announced their sked (VMI @ Mercer 10/19).
